Another view of the bank |

Road near the marina and souk (market). The gold-topped gazebos were all over this area. Not too many communities that put up rest areas quite this nice... |
Ministry building of some sort - even their government buildings are nicely done. Wish we could say the same about some of ours! |
Another view of Ministry building |
... |
City gates on the other side of the city |
There was one of these on either side of a road leading to museums. The curved knife (called a khanjar) over the two crossed swords is the national crest of Oman (also appears on their flag). |

Sculpture in the middle of a roundabout (traffic circle) |
Another roundabout sculpture |
Fancy a bit of jewelry? This is from the gold souk. And no, I didn't inquire as to the cost of any of these pieces, <grin>. |
Shopkeeper in the souk, with lots of khanjars. We had as much fun socialising with him as buying from him. Learned a few things in the process as well. |
This is in the lobby of the Hyatt - we didn't stay here, just stopped in for tea. The lobby is unreal. This bronze is life-size or even a bit larger, and it rotates. However the rotation is quite slow, enough that you don't really notice until you look up and wonder if your eyes are playing tricks on you. |
Window from the Hyatt lobby to the pool area |
Dome in the lobby - it has twinkling fiber-optic stars. |
Alcove in the upper walls of the lobby |
Panel on the side of the front entrance door |
And that's it! |
